Today the Centre for Technology Policy Research and Ideal Government are launching the IT strategy competition we mentioned a short time ago.
The wiki and details can be found online here.
We believe that it’s time to say what an ideal government IT strategy should look like – rooted in the need to modernise and improve our UK public services. But we want to do this together, as a collaborative work that brings together the best thinking from citizens, policymakers, public sector workers and technologists alike. Let’s say “wouldn’t it be better if” about how technology affects transparency, costs and the quality of public services and how they affect our lives.
This is a six-week competition in which everyone wins. Everyone who contributes is invited to a party. CTPR and Ideal Government have put £1,000 in the pot.
The Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem Parties alike have all agreed to have the results presented and to consider them in the context of their own thinking around the development of more effective technology policies.
Contributions from all stakeholders are welcome: officials, industry, front line staff, anyone who speaks from personal experience of public services. Pertinent Art is always welcome, because it can speak to our condition so powerfully.
So please come along and join in.
